GAN delivers 186% more online bets on Super Bowl’s day, signs patent license with Parx Casino

G

AN delivered an all-time record of 14.6 million settled online bets the day of Super Bowl LV, up 186% compared to last year’s event. Also, the company has reached an agreement with Parx Casino to license GAN’s patented iBridge integration framework for 10 years.
The agreement calls for Parx Casino to pay a total licensing fee of $3 million and implies a patent license of roughly $75 per reward card, validating a ‘per unit’ value of the patent. GAN has also agreed to amend its existing contract with Parx Casino, and will release it from exclusivity moving forward.
Dermot Smurfit, Chief Executive Officer of GAN, commented in a press release Tuesday: “GAN delivered uninterrupted performance for all our U.S. clients during Super Bowl LV, just as we did last year and the year before that. Yesterday, we experienced record all-time transaction volumes before, during and after the Super Bowl and look forward to leveraging the experience, technical data and knowhow to prepare for next year’s technical onslaught which we expect will see Super Bowl betting on GAN’s Platform taking place across perhaps more than a dozen states simultaneously.”
“We’ve started the year with strong business and financial momentum and this patent licensing deal further validates our industry-leading IP (intellectual property) and sets a new bar for its value per reward card. Since we deployed our patented functionality in the U.S. for online gaming, those online customers who have linked their retail gaming loyalty cards to their counterpart online gambling accounts have generated in excess of 160% more Gross Gaming Revenue (online casino) and 140% more Gross Sports Win (from online sports betting) as compared to those customers who have not linked a loyalty card to their online gambling account. These results demonstrate not only the direct value of our technology and IP, but also the ‘stickiness’ of GAN’s platform to our customers,” Smurfit added.
There are a reported 80 million unique American adults who regularly frequent casinos for retail gaming and who together possess 150 million individual Reward cards offered by more than 1,000 retail casino gaming properties located in 48 states, according to GAN. Certain major U.S. casino operator groups have tens of millions of card-carrying retail gaming patrons within their casino patron databases. These patron databases are frequently cited as a competitive advantage supporting the same retail casino operators’ launch of internet sports betting and/or casino gaming.
“This is the second time GAN has licensed its patented iBridge Framework on a standalone basis and we believe the opportunity to leverage our intellectual property here in the U.S. remains large. We continue to be engaged in numerous conversations with both large and small casino-operators to partner with GAN in order to seamlessly connect their loyal reward-card carrying customers to their various online offerings. As a result, we believe we are on track to license our iBridge patent to additional U.S. casino operator groups in 2021 and throughout the patent’s remaining 13-year duration, which should help us drive long-term value for our shareholders,” Dermot Smurfit concluded.

Pennsylvania, Nevada and Illinois sportsbooks score big in Super Bowl

According to preliminary figures released by the states’ respective gaming boards

T

he Nevada Gaming Control Board released figures on Tuesday that showed $136.1 million was wagered in the state on Super Bowl LV that featured the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking the fourth-best win for the state’s books in the last 10 years.
The sportsbooks ended up holding 9.2% of the money wagered for a “win” of $12,574,125, KTNV reports.
According to the gaming control board, Nevada is home to 184 sportsbooks and several were still able to have guests enjoy the game under COVID-19 restrictions.
As for Pennsylvania, the state’s board preliminary figures show $53.6 million was wagered on Sunday’s Super Bowl through retail and online sportsbooks, which represents a 74% increase over wagers placed on the game last year.
After payouts, revenue is expected to be $9.4 million following a negative revenue amount from 2020 Super Bowl wagering, the Reading Eagle reports.
This was the third year in which legal sports wagering was available in Pennsylvania for the Super Bowl, but just the second in which online wagering options were available. This year, patrons could choose to place Super Bowl wagers at 15 retail locations and through 12 online wagering sites. Those numbers last year were 12 and eight respectively.
The board also reported that there were 320,000 unique users that logged onto online sports wagering sites in Pennsylvania on Super Bowl Sunday based on data it obtained from geolocation technology service GeoComply.
Figures from last year’s Super Bowl Sunday were 200,000 unique visitors to Pennsylvania regulated sports wagering websites. These figures do not include customers who were visiting and wagering at any of the retail sports wagering locations in the Commonwealth.
Finally, in Illinois, taking their first chance to bet legally on the Super Bowl, football fans laid down $46 million in wagers, an amount called “historically the largest amount ever in Illinois.”
According to figures released Monday by the State Gaming Board, the total handle was $45,610,513 — with $42,756,647 of those bets being made online. The state’s cut of that is $1,148,890 in tax revenue.
“That number, that 1.1 could go up,” said Joe Miller, the board’s policy director. “There’s still some outstanding wagers still out there. So yeah, though, these are all preliminary numbers, just raw from the sportsbooks this morning.”
Miller said the big game was the biggest event since sports betting was legalized in 2019 and launched last year.
“I just don’t know that there was a comparable event since last March when the first sports betting started,” he said. “Maybe some European soccer or something, but I don’t even think that that comes close. I think this is historically the largest amount ever in Illinois, and it’s that way for other jurisdictions as well.”
The money bet on this one event is “nearly 20% to a quarter” of the total amount of all bets made in November, the last month for the state has data, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

NJ sports betting handle on Super Bowl more than doubles from last year

S

unday’s Super Bowl LV bets in New Jersey more than doubled from last year’s game, according to preliminary wagering data from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Wagering on this year’s Super Bowl totaled approximately $117.4 million, with a projected total sports wagering payout of $106.1 million. This resulted in a win of $11.3 million for the sports wagering books, the DGE said Monday, as reported by The Press of Atlantic City. The total wagering reflects a 116% increase over wagering from the 2020 Super Bowl, which was $54.3 million.
Revenue figures this year include New Jersey’s 12 retail sportsbooks and 21 sports wagering mobile applications, the DGE said.
Last year, preliminary wagering statistics reported by Atlantic City casinos and New Jersey horse tracks showed that wagering on Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl totaled approximately $54.3 million and with a projected total sports wagering payout of $58,568,699, the DGE said. This resulted in a loss of $4.28 million, which represented a negative hold percentage of 7.8%, the DGE said. Those revenue figures included New Jersey’s 10 retail sports books and 19 sports wagering mobile applications.

NFL’s exclusive LatAm Super Bowl sponsor Betcris sets new betting options for Sunday’s game

S

ports gambling operator Betcris has become the exclusive sponsor of the NFL and Super Bowl in Latin America. The final game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs, which will look to defend their Super Bowl LIV championship, is set to take place on Sunday.
Betcris said sports gambling markets are seeing “non-stop flurries of activity,” with gamblers showing interest in all possible wagers, from moneylines to prop bets. Ahead of the Super Bowl game this Sunday, Betcris said it is “gearing up with tons of gambling options” for sports gamblers throughout the region.
The online sports gambling segment is expected to receive most of the action on this year’s Super Bowl. The standard lines, which currently favor the Chiefs by just three points, have been particularly active this year, and Betcris’s sports gambling operations in several countries are staying busy. Bets on moneylines, Over/Unders for the first and second half and the game, spreads and handicaps are constantly reaching new levels, but so are the many prop bets Betcris has lined up.

Every year, the NFL sees an extensive list of prop bets associated with the Super Bowl. Wagers on the length of the singing of the National Anthem, whether the coin toss will land on heads or tails and what color Gatorade (if any) will be showered on the winning coach are annual favorites. This year, though, Betcris has added some additional touches to the list, including the color of tape that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will wear and how many times Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen, will appear during the broadcast.
There are other prop bets being offered by Betcris, as well, including who will win the MVP award and how many tweets President of the United States Joe Biden will make during the game. The gaming operator also has some exotic bets in place, including Super Bowl-vs-NBA game stats, among others.
Betcris said it has been proud of its involvement with the NFL in Latin America and, as part of its sponsorship agreement, was authorized to take several individuals to watch the game live in Tampa Bay, Florida. However, because of COVID-19 restrictions, that option had to be temporarily removed, but Betcris is optimistic that it will be able to fulfill some football fans’ dreams next year. It is still moving forward with other perks offered through the relationship with the league, including the awarding of NFL Game Passes and official league merchandise.
